Indian Institute of Horticultural Research (ICAR-IIHR) is one of the premier researchinstitute of Indian Council of Agricultural Research.
The institute has a mandates to undertake basic and applied research for developing strategies to enhance productivity and utilization of tropical & sub-tropical horticulture crops viz., fruits, vegetables, ornamentals, medicinal & aromatic plants and mushrooms.
It serves as a repository of scientific information relevant to horticulture and acts as a centre for training for up gradation of scientific manpower in modern technologies for horticulture production and to collaborate with national and international agencies in achieving the above objectives.
Technology License Agreement between ICAR-IIHR and Arihant Group of Industries.
Arihant Group of Industries has entered into an agreement with Indian Institute of Horticultural Research (ICAR-IIHR) for manufacturing patented products for path breaking results for the farmer.
Despite enhancing the crop yields, the so-called green revolution (GR) has proven unsuccessful in assuring long term agricultural sustainability.
The methods used for productivity enhancement during GR have not only proven to be problematic but have also resulted in deterioration of soil quality and several other issues related to ecosystems and health issues. The damage was mainly caused by the indiscriminate use of chemical fertilizers and insecticides. Various types of pesticides, are now known to be causing huge problems in the agro-ecosystems.
In such a situation, where chemicals have caused, or are causing irreversible impacts on agroecosystems, the use of biopesticides has emerged as a sustainable alternative leading to safe organic farming. At the global level, environmentally benign nature and target-specificity of biopesticides are gaining wide popularity.
However, in developing countries like India usage of biopesticides is still minuscule in comparison to conventional chemical pesticides. Although the Indian government has encouraged the use of biopesticides by placing them into many of the agricultural schemes, at the grassroots level, these products are facing many challenges.
The lower adaptability and declining interest of farmers towards sustainable agriculture products have become a matter of concern. However, technological challenges related to production, manufacture and application in agroecosystems have also raised a question on their long-term sustainability.
The main objective of this review is to highlight the developing trend in the field of biocontrol products in India. Apart from this, the review also focuses on the technological perspectives that are required for the long-term sustainability of biological control products in Indian agriculture and market.
Revolutionizing Sustainable Pest Control in Agriculture We are excited to share that Arihant Bioscience (India) Pvt. Ltd. has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-National Bureau of Agricultural Insect Resources (ICAR-NBAIR). This MoU, signed on June 26, 2024, marks the beginning of a collaborative journey to develop and produce novel formulations for the biological control of white grubs and other soil insect pests.
Our breakthrough in agricultural pest management represents a new era of sustainable farming practices. By leveraging the power of nature’s beneficial organisms, we are now able to offer enhanced crop protection without relying heavily on conventional pesticides. This partnership with ICAR-NBAIR holds immense potential for transforming the agricultural industry, benefiting farmers, and promoting sustainable practices.
Our patented technology features cutting-edge formulations meticulously developed by our team of dedicated research scientists. After years of innovation, we have unlocked nature’s potential to combat white grubs and other soil insect pests effectively. Our commitment to excellence in agriculture has led to this significant achievement, made possible with the invaluable support of ICAR-NBAIR.
This technology allows farmers to adopt a sustainable approach to pest management, minimizing the environmental impact associated with traditional pesticide use. By incorporating nature’s allies into their practices, farmers can achieve higher crop yields while maintaining the balance of ecosystems.
Our patented technology is a major milestone in the agricultural sector, offering significant benefits for both farmers and the environment. By embracing this innovative solution, agricultural stakeholders can enhance sustainability, reduce chemical residues, and contribute to the overall well-being of farming communities.
At Arihant Bioscience, we are proud to lead this transformation. Our dedication to agricultural innovation drives us to pioneer advancements that empower farmers and protect our planet.
